uropean Riverboat Cruise sailing June 12, 2024

Why book so early–We booked this in January, 2023. There is no advance room allotment or room block on a riverboat cruise like ocean cruises have and as other passengers make deposits on the rooms there is less rooms available for our group to choose from. It is first come. That is why we book early to get the best choice of locations and room rates. See the standard room pricing at the link below. Final payment is due at booking as we are within 4 months. The Insurance includes Uniworld’s Cancel for any reason and get a future cruise only credit good for 2 years minus any non-refundable deposit minimum. So, Make your deposit knowing your risk is minimized. The cost of the insurance is not refundable.

Click onto this link below to view detail information of the June 12, 2024 Rhine River Valley 2024 https://www.uniworld.com/us/river-cruise/central-europe/rhine/rhine-river-valley/2024-nuremberg-to-basel The 2023 date appears as a default, so change the year to 2024 first, then select Basel to Nuremberg ( it defaults to Nuremberg to Basel) on the site as we will start in Switzerland. For those of us that wish to go a little early, you may look at adding an additional night or two on your own. Some have advised me they are going to Zurich early and will take the train or rent a car to the first stop in Briesach, Germany. Right now Uniworld has a 2 night extension offered in Prague following the cruise if you decide to stay and see more of Germany. There is no pre-cruise stay offered. If you book the air and their contracted hotel with the cruise line, all transfers would be included if they match with the start or end date of the cruise. Uniwould will pick you up at the Basel airport and transfer you to the ship at no extra charge as long as your flight arrives within their work hours. Although the cruise shows from Basel, Switzerland to Nuremberg for this year they do not have docking availability in Basel so the ship actually leaves from Briesach. Please remember that our group receives a discounted price. The new pricing is listed below.

What is unique about this itinerary is that it does not go to Belgium and the Netherlands as most of the Rhine cruises goes into Amsterdam which has surrounding land that is flat with little scenery to view. Additionally, the last day is spent in canals and doing a Dutch windmill tour. Its OK, but once you do it you have little desire to repeat.

This cruise is a new itinerary that goes for the first time in 2033 from Germany to Switzerland or the reverse. Most of the time we are in the hills of wine country (and German beer). There is much better scenery to view with Cathedrals, Castles and wine estates along with cities and villages with a lot of history. (read the itinerary in the link) In 2024 the first cruise is June 4th. I have found the first cruise of the year is often a shakedown cruise, so I scheduled the next one, June 12th, 2024. Starting the end of June and into July you get the summer vacation crowds , so I did not schedule it for then.

OUR GROUP Pricing- Note that all prices are per person cruise only based upon two persons to a room-price effective July 20, 2023 Suites are sold out. Single rate is less, but is not double the rate as the ocean cruise lines impose. The ship only has 64 rooms with a maximum of 128 passengers if it were to sail full. As of December we have 30 passengers in our group.

Deluxe price is $4099 a person plus tax for our group. And last,

Classic price is $3499 per person plus tax for our group.

This is a classy all-inclusive cruise with premium drinks included, shore excursions included, tips on the ship included and fine dining included. Uniworld is one of the top riverboat cruise lines and includes Butler service for suites. All prices are based upon double occupancy. The Classic rooms have windows near the top of the room as the location is mostly below the waterline. There are 18 French Balcony rooms have a sliding glass windows on the top deck. There are 36 Deluxe rooms that have a picture window at standard window height on the middle deck. The window does not open. The ship has 4 Suites (that are sold out) that have plenty of room. Two of the suites are booked by our first four group members. Air is not included and is available at this time and may be booked with the cruise line or you may book yours separately. Port tax is $220 a person extra. Cruise line insurance starts at $449 a person for prices up to $5000 and increases as the cost increases such as air pricing.
